Basket At Your Door
OUR COMMUNITY NEEDS CONNECTION
Sharing Our Creativity Is What Brings Us Joy.
This project was a life saver to many during covid lockdowns.
Click the button below to hear all the stories and meet the basket ladies.
Make sure you are on our email list, we have some exciting plans for this pink basket of connection!
The current Melbourne lockdown 6 has us all frazzled, disconnected, concerned and isolated.
Knitting and crochet are solitary acts, but when we get together it becomes a meaningful way to Unwind and connect.
“I am usually a sound sleeper but on 18-08-2021 I awoke at 3:00 am, excited with this idea in my head. I could
not sleep for the next 4 hours, got up and wrote it down so I could finally fall back to sleep” -Robyn x
I have seen so many beautiful friendships come out of our little Unwind store. Being part of this community is a great honour and teaches us something new every day. We think all our creative community are super stars, each one has something we can all learn from and I don’t just mean creative skills.
So this morning, while struggling with the knowledge of us being separated again, limited to 5km from our homes, an idea hit me.
LET ME EXPLAIN!
I am going to start a creative, connection movement!
With a simple basket at your door we will spread support, connection, creativity and kindness.
The community will get to follow along, meet the maker and find out a little about them, their creative journey and what they love about Unwinding.
We can’t wait to see where our little basket goes and how many lovely creatives we get to meet.
HOW IT WORKS!
1. With our current 15km restrictions, we will find someone in that radius who would like to receive the basket. Receiving day will be by Thursday (it can be any time before that) each week.
2. The basket will be dropped Covid safely at the door. You will then add a knitted or crocheted 15 cm square, in 8 ply pure wool, what ever colour you like (Happy colours preferred). Be creative or just simple, we don’t mind.
3. We will then have a little catch up with the maker, either by Zoom, phone or email (what ever works for you). Which will be featured on our Facebook live, Instagram TV, Website blog and YouTube- if we can manage all that tech😬
WE WILL NEED FROM YOU!
A photo with you and the basket- at your front door, your square and one of your favourite projects/makes.
This can be more than one photo.
IN THE CATCH UP WE WILL ASK:
A - How you found out about the Unwind basket?
B - About the square you made.
C - About your favourite project - make.
D - What Unwinding means to you, and if you use your craft to connect socially.
We can use this little basket to brighten the recipients day!
THINGS YOU COULD INCLUDE AS YOU PASS IT ON (some suggestions below)!
A little note.
A little gift.
A flower from your garden.
A biscuit you have baked.
A chocolate.
A small handmade item.
A recipe you love.
A pattern.
A mini skein of yarn.
A candle.
Really anything that you think may brighten that persons day.
When the basket gets too full of squares we will get them posted to us, the post could be covered by us, yourselves, or a sponsor we will work that out when it get’s full.
When they are received we will join them into our Unwind Covid Connection blanket, which will be displayed in store, to remind us of how Unwinding together is good for the soul, mental health and the community.
We will then gift this to a good cause.
