Knitspiration Hat.

Knitspiration began as a way for my kids to offer a truly unique Christmas gift to their teachers. Each year, for the past few years, I have drawn out a picture of a plain knit hat, having my kids color it in with a design from their heart (along with a little guidance from mom). I then interpret their “designs” into a hat for these important people who pour so much into their lives daily. So who inspires you? A teacher? Grandparent? Aunt? Uncle? Mentor? 

A true exercise in collaboration and creativity, the Knitspiration Hat creates a gift giving experience as unique as your imaginations. Use the template and workspace on the following pages to guide you as you dream up the ideal way to make your inspiring person feel loved!

Gauge: 20 sts and 26 rnds per 4” / 10 cm in chosen stitch pattern in the round on larger needles

Finished Measurements: 19” (48 cm) unstretched, finished circumference; 12.5” (32 cm) finished height, with brim folded

Materials Used:  Approximately 200 yards of your favorite worsted weight yarn

Needle Size: 

• 4 Size US 7 / 4.5 mm DPNs
• US 7 / 4.5 mm circular needle, 16” length (40 cm)
• US 5 / 3.75 mm circular needle, 16” length (40 cm)
